Why Dunkin Frozen Coffee is the Worst Thing on the Menu

The Dunkin Frozen Coffee contains very little coffee and a whole lot of chemicals

Dunkin Donuts is most notably known for two things, donuts and coffee. While we try and stay far, far away from their sugary donuts, a cup of jo from this fast-food chain always seems to be a safe bet as long as you know all the healthy drinks they offer on the menu. We’re big fans of their hot coffee, americano, iced coffee, and even Dunkaccino (hold the sugar) so when we saw Dunkin Frozen Coffee on the menu, we thought we had found ourselves a new, healthy fave. However, we were wrong, so very, very wrong.

What’s Wrong with Dunkin Frozen Coffee?

When we think of frozen coffee, our mind immediately goes to iced coffee with a scoop of ice and a blender. Add in plant-based milk, maybe a packet of sugar, and voila, you have frozen coffee. However, when Dunkin Donuts thought of frozen coffee, they must have looked in the backroom for every leftover chemical and preservative imaginable to create this Frankenstein of a drink.

They call this, “an energizing spin on your favorite coffee“, but the truth is that this is more of a 180-degree turn from their iced coffee offerings. And actually, this drink is on par with the number of chemicals that their non-coffee drink, the Dunkin Coolatta, uses.

Dunkin Frozen Coffee Ingredients

This Dunkin Donuts chemical concoction AKA frozen coffee is comprised of just about everything except for coffee. To be fair, a hint of coffee can be found in their Coffee Swirl Syrup, next to the water, sugar, natural flavors, and other chemicals, yum!

Dunkin Frozen Coffee Caloires

If you do decide to yourself this chemical charade in a cup it will set you back about 480 calories for a small, 680 for a medium, and 870 for a large. Unlike most of Dunkin Donuts coffee that is made by a barista, this beverage comes straight out of a machine, so there isn’t much you can do in the way of customizing the order for fewer calories, less sugar or no chemicals.

Dunkin Donuts Frozen Coffee Nutrition

Dunkin Donuts Frozen Coffee Nutrition

After seeing the ingredients for this frozen coffee, we weren’t exactly shocked when we looked at the nutrition label. However, there were a couple of positive surprises for this overall terrible drink.

  • Total Fat: 9g
  • Cholesterol: 30mg
  • Sodium: 210mg
  • Carbs: 140g
  • Sugar: 130g
  • Cafffeine: 295mg
  • Calcium: 293mg
  • Protien: 9g

While no medical professional would ever recommend drinking Dunkin Frozen Coffee if you are looking to increase calcium intake, this beverage shockingly does have 25% daily value. It also contains 9g of protein, but the protein is outshined by the sugar and carbs this drink has.

We gave credit where credit is due, however, with 130g of sugar, 140g carbs, and 295mg of caffeine in a medium drink we can’t hide the fact that this drink is just plain awful. The sugar content alone is 240% of your daily recommended allowance and the caffeine content goes above and beyond the 100-200mg range that is recommended. Additionally, for that many carbohydrates, you might as well eat an entire baguette (or two).

Dunkin Frozen Coffee Alternatives

Sorry to rain on your frozen coffee parade, but this drink from Dunkin Donuts just isn’t doing it for us. However, if you are in the mood for a cold cuppa there are some better alternatives. Although these won’t be blended, they will have fewer ingredients and no chemicals compared to their frozen coffee counterpart. Make sure when you order these frozen coffee alternatives that you order without sugar (add your own in, if needed) and opt for plant-based milk for fewer calories.
